Star Topic:The Relationship Between Solar Activity and Weather 🌞🛰
The Sun goes through a “solar cycle” of activity that becomes more or less intense approximately every 11 years. Records of sunspots began in 1755, and we are currently in the midst of Solar Cycle 25.
According to NASA, this cycle is expected to reach its peak—known as the solar maximum—around October 2024 and continue through September 2025 ☀️
In fact, auroras (low-latitude auroras) were observed in various parts of Japan in 2024, capturing a lot of public attention! This phenomenon occurred due to intense solar winds reaching Earth as a result of heightened solar activity ✨
In the past, it was believed that Earth’s temperatures rose during periods of strong solar activity. However, it’s now understood that the effects of greenhouse gases play a much larger role in global warming 🌍💨
That said…
Could we see auroras in Japan again this year?
Be sure to keep an eye on the sky—you might just catch a gift from space 👀🌌
