Today, at the Ima-Tetsu observation points:

  • Kawaguchi recorded 39.5°C at 13:30

  • Sumida recorded 39.5°C at 13:20

These temperatures exceed that of central Tokyo, where the JMA AMeDAS station recorded 36.4°C at 13:36, indicating extremely intense local heat.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency,
Kiryu City in Gunma Prefecture reached 39.9°C at 14:08, the highest temperature in Japan today.
A total of 322 locations nationwide recorded mousho-bi (extremely hot days, 35°C or higher), marking the highest number on record since statistics began in 2010.

This is dangerously hot—hotter than normal body temperature.
Please avoid outdoor activities as much as possible, use air conditioning indoors, and stay hydrated frequently.
